Sensirion is Acquiring the Automotive Business from Korean Peer Auto Industrial Co.
The business acquired will add AIC’s sensor modules to Sensirion’s business. The business acquired will operate under the name Sensirion Automotive Solutions and be a legally independent business unit of the parent company.
A long-standing successful partnership ties the two companies together. AIC’s sensor and module business develops, manufactures and sells sensor modules for the automotive industry. Among the most significant products are auto-defogging sensors (ADS) as well as sensor modules to measure air quality and CO 2 sensors. With ISO/TS16949-certified manufacturing sites, R&D centers and sales offices in Asia, Switzerland and the USA as well as with its long-standing supply relationship to automotive OEMs and tier one suppliers, Sensirion Automotive Solutions is said to count among the leading providers of sensor muddles and environmental sensors for the automotive industry.
According to a Sensirion release, the product ranges of both companies complement each other perfectly. The portfolio includes gas and liquid sensors, differential pressure sensors, environmental sensors for the measurement of humidity, temperature, volatile organic compounds (VOC), carbon dioxide (CO2) and particulate matter (PM2.5). In this lineup, Sensirion’s proprietary CMOSens technology will continue to play a supporting role. The parent company Sensirion AG will continue to focus on senor components; the company’s Swiss R&D, production and sales activities won’t be affected by the deal, Sensirion assures.
